Police investigating reports of a woman screaming for help soon discovered it was actually a rather vocal goat named Simon.
A resident in Etna, Maine in the US, had called authorities after hearing the worrying noise.
An officer followed the noise down a railway track, which led him to Oak Shade Farm.
Devon Hawes, who owns the farm with her husband, told regional news station WBTV: ‘I want to say it was after 8:30. We’re just sitting there watching Netflix, and somebody, all of a sudden, there was a very loud bang on the door.
Her partner goes to the door and is met by the officer, who is quickly shown the culprit, Simon, the Hawes’ one-year-old Nigerian dwarf goat.
It’s a pretty quiet neighborhood. It’s quiet except for us!’ Hawes explained.

I don’t know how to make a goat be quiet. He gets everything he needs, food, love, all of the things. He’s just got a lot to say!’
Devon later posted about the incident on Facebook, writing: ‘We had a visit from the Sheriff’s Department tonight.

They received a report about a woman screaming for help and while walking the railroad tracks he traced the screams to our farm.
‘We took him to the barn and introduced him to Simon. Case closed. #farmlife #goats’.

Neither Simon or the Hawes have faced any repercussions for the noise.
In Llandudno, north Wales. a herd of Kashmiri mountain goats hit headlines during a Covid lockdown after they started colonising the streets.
Although liked by many residents, the animals started causing mayhem, damaging property as well as putting themselves at risk.
In the end a task force was created with the sole purpose of keeping them on their home — the Great Orme headland near the seaside town – and out of trouble.
