So, my son invited me on a fully paid family vacation, and I was excited—until everything went wrong. I asked for an aisle seat for some extra legroom, which seemed reasonable. But when we boarded, my daughter-in-law’s 5-year-old son threw a tantrum, demanding my seat. I told him, ‘Sorry, kid, Grandma needs it,’ but my daughter-in-law didn’t take kindly to that.
The next day, I returned to my hotel room, and all my things were packed. She said if I couldn’t give up my seat for her son, I shouldn’t stay on the trip. She accused me of treating him unfairly because he’s from her previous marriage. I tried to explain, but she didn’t listen. My son was upset, and to avoid further conflict, I ended up booking my own room.
What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation turned into a nightmare. Now, the tension between us is thick, and I don’t know how to fix things without losing my self-respect. How do I move forward?
