Roseanne Barr Says the Obamas Were Directly Behind Her Firing From ABC
In a recent appearance on a podcast, comedian Roseanne Barr revealed explosive details regarding her abrupt dismissal from her own show, shedding light on the political maneuvering by the Obamas—an intervention that has reignited discussions about celebrity culture, political influence, and the dynamics of Hollywood.
Barr, who has long been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, stated that Michelle Obama played a pivotal role in her firing from the much-acclaimed reboot of her sitcom, Roseanne. The show, which soared to high ratings, was abruptly canceled in 2018 after Barr controversially tweeted about Valerie Jarrett, a former senior advisor to President Obama.
“Like I say, these are my jokes. Because she’s the one that got me fired, you know,” Barr asserted, nodding toward Michelle Obama. “She’s the one that called ABC and said I had to go. Because of my racist tweet.”
Further explaining the sequence of events, Barr detailed, “Bob Iger, who fired me, said his first phone call was to Valerie Jarrett to apologize to her and that Michelle Obama also got on the phone with them, and that Obama called him afterward to thank him for firing me. So that’s in the paper.”
Barr emphasized that the Obama administration actively worked to stifle her voice. “What happened to me was borderline criminal,” she said, adding that instead of simply ending her show, a broader campaign sought to obliterate her means of livelihood and silence her political stance. “They tried to cancel me and ostracize me, but in the end, I prevailed… bowed to no one.”
