Trump Says Peace Could Get Him Into Heaven

President Donald Trump made a strange comment about religion during an interview on Fox and Friends. The 79 year old said that if he could bring peace between Ukraine and Russia it might help him get into heaven.
He said: “If I can save 7,000 people a week from being ki**ed, I think that’s pretty, I want to try to get to heaven if possible. I’m hearing that I’m not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons.”

Reporters followed up and asked about it and his press secretary tried to explain what he meant. She said: “I think the president was serious. I think the president wants to get to heaven, as I hope we all do in this room as well.”
Trump has said before that he is a non denominational Christian and he talks about faith sometimes, but this time it sounded more like him reflecting out loud.
This came just a day after he had Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House with a group of European leaders. They were all talking about trying to stop the war that has been going on since 2022.Trump has been saying for a while that ending the conflict is a top goal for him, but so far, he has not been able to get Russia to join in real talks.
He also met with Vladimir Putin in Alaska not long ago. They talked about peace, but Putin made it clear Russia was not ready to call for a ceasefire. Trump said he hoped Putin would make a deal, but nothing came from that meeting.

Later on, during a separate summit with NATO and EU leaders, Trump was caught on a microphone talking to French President Emmanuel Macron.
He said: “I think he wants to make a deal, I think he wants to make a deal for me. Do you understand? As crazy as it sounds.” That comment got attention and raised questions about whether Trump’s personal interests could end up tied to US foreign policy.
Trump has often pointed to his relationship with Putin as something that could help him succeed. He said: “I’ve known him for a long time, I’ve always had a great relationship with him.” Even though no agreement has come out of the recent meetings, Trump keeps saying he wants to find a way to end the w*r and he has not backed away from that.
