Vice President JD Vance has drawn attention online with his recent comments about former President Donald Trump’s health.
Speculation about Trump’s well-being has grown in recent months. Observers have noted a bruise on his hand during public appearances, which the White House explained as a minor side effect of frequent handshakes. Additionally, Trump was diagnosed earlier this summer with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a condition affecting the veins in the legs. Combined with his age—he will turn 80 next year—these factors have led some to question his overall health.
During an interview with USA Today, Vance was asked if he would be ready to step in if the situation ever arose. He responded: “I’ve had a lot of on-the-job training in the last 200 days, but the president is in incredibly good health. He’s got incredible energy.”
Vance continued, noting that Trump often works long hours: “While most of the people who work around the president are younger than he is, I think he’s actually the last person to go to sleep and the first person to wake up, making phone calls both morning and night.” He added: “If God forbid there is a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten in the last 200 days.”
