During an interview on TODAY, the 56-year-old entertainer shared Wednesday that he had his prostate removed after having a radical prostatectomy surgery.
“I always imagined I would be telling my prostate cancer story from the other side of prostate cancer because I had a radical prostatectomy surgery. My prostate was removed. There were clear margins,” Jordan, told TODAY.com. “Close to a year post-prostatectomy, I still need to go back and have additional treatments because it’s (been) detected that there is still cancer.”

Doctors diagnosed Montell Jordan with Stage 1 prostate cancer in 2024 following a routine prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening that showed his levels were high, and he underwent a prostatectomy.
The “This Is How We Do It” singer told TODAY that being diagnosed with prostate cancer was “alarming” but added that he was hopeful doctors detected it early.
Jordan is sharing his cancer story and is working on a documentary called “Sustain,” which is slated to debut in 2026. TODAY noted that the entertainer also teamed up with the nonprofit ZERO Prostate Cancer to bring attention to the need for Black men to get regular prostate cancer screenings.
People reported that Jordan will undergo targeted radiation to treat the cancer in his lymph nodes and will take hormone blockers to stop the cancer’s growth.
